I’ve written a few unpublished short stories. Usually, these come into being as a way to take a break from a larger writing project – for example, if I hit a wall of “writer’s block” in the middle of writing a novel – which has happened more frequently than I’d care to admit.
To date, my short stories have all explored my interest in my home city of Vancouver, and the neighbourhoods and personalities I’ve encountered while living here, since 1975.
- My first short story, “Sugar Shack”, was an entry in the 2005 Zoetrope All-story Short Fiction Contest.
- My most recent short story, “Blue Sky”, was an entrant in the Vancouver Courier’s 2009 Short Fiction contest.
You can find my short stories posted for free at my “Owe Nothing” Fan Page on FaceBook:

I will continue writing short fiction as a way to experiment with characters and themes, and to help inhabit the empty spaces of the world that I began creating with “Owe Nothing”, back in 2002.
There’s still so much that needs to be said…
