In this amazing film about the birth of the Dadaists and Surrealists, you may recognize imagery and themes from HR Giger, silly walks and other post-victorian nose-tweaking.

These may have inspired Monty Python, Aeon Flux, and a lot of good ol’ punkish nihilism and freudian psychoanalysis.

(In my humble opinion, Dali was such a bullshit artiste, but Marcel Duchamp was like a damned surgeon…)
