Comptuer-based Visual Literacy at Emily Carr College

Sample Visual Literacy research images (1987):

VisLit_1987
This is a small sample of the hundreds of images that I created during my research into computer-based visual literacy at the Emily Carr College of Art + Design, under the tutelege of master art educator, Dr. Tom Hudson, L.L D.

These images are essentially exercises in exploring and developing elements of visual language, made using various microcomputers available at the time. The firstĀ images exploring the theme “Point” were done using a Commodore 64 and drawing tablet. All later images were created using an Amiga computer and mouse. This work was used or contributed to the educational telecourse “Mark and Image”.
